Our Euro 6 Vehicles

If we were to tell you that we have invested in the latest low-carbon vehicles with Euro 6 engines, would it mean anything to you?

Rightly so, environmental pollution has been at the forefront of environmentalists hit list for the last decade or so. Whether it be fumes from jet planes or cars, every journey can have a significant impact on the environment. That’s why at Nidd Transport, we are improving our carbon footprint by investing in the latest low-carbon vehicles with Euro 6 engines.

The first Euro emissions were introduced in July 1992, which required new petrol cars be fitted with catalytic converters to reduce CO emissions. Since then, we have moved up from Euro 1 to Euro 6 currently every 5 or so years, meaning we should expect Euro 7 in 2020.

But what is Euro 6?

Euro 6 is the sixth and latest directive set by the European Union to help reduce the level of harmful pollutants produced by new vehicles.

Euro 6 regulations have different emission limits for petrol and diesel vehicles, reflecting the damage either produce towards the environment. Diesel vehicles now have a permitted level of NOx emitted of 80mg/km, which is 100 less than their Euro 5 emissions standard. This is even more surprising when it’s compared to petrol, as their NOx limit has remained unchanged from Euro 5, mainly as it was already much lower at 60 mg/km.

How do you know if your vehicle is a Euro 6?

According to the RAC, if your car was registered on or after 1 September 2015 or the model was approved on or after 1 September 2014 it should meet the Euro 6 standard. However, this is not guaranteed and to be sure you should check with your vehicle’s manufacturer.

As always, we will continue to improve our carbon footprint, if you have any questions feel free to contact us.

Introducing: Howard Lee

Nidd Transport are delighted to announce the arrival of Howard Lee as our new European Development Manager. Having already accumulated 47 years in the transport industry, we know that his knowledge will prove invaluable to us as a business.

Before Nidd, Howard worked at Leman (Maru) International and will be responsible for providing quotations to our customers as well as developing overseas agents and hauliers. When asked what Howard enjoys the most about his job, he said:

“The thing I enjoy the most is making a profit! Also, being safe with the knowledge that our services are tried and tested, with good customer satisfaction. I chose Nidd because although we’re a medium sized company, we’re small enough to care.”

When he’s not out developing partnerships, you can find Howard spending time with his Grandson and enjoying days and weekends away. Like many of us here, he also enjoys sitting down and watching the football.

Good luck with your new role Howard!

If you’re interested in working for Nidd Transport, keep an eye out for opportunities on our careers page.

Nidd Transport to support St. Wilfrid’s Parade for another year!

Nidd Transport are pleased to be supporting the St. Wilfrid’s Parade again this year. We will be providingvehicles to a number of local businesses for their floats. They include Lister House Care Home, Ripon Playschool, Ripon Museums and Borrage House Care Home.

The City of Ripon host this annual procession in honour of Saint Wilfrid, Ripons’ Patron Saint.

The marketplace is transformed into a space with fairground rides, Morris dancers and much more on the day. Floats will travel around the city and pass the marketplace between 2pm & 4pm, being led by an actor playing the Saint on his horse.

It all began in 1108 where King Henry 1 granted permission to the city to celebrate the birth of the Saint by holding a fair. This fair was held on the 30th July and Ripon has kept hold of the tradition to this day.

The parade will take place on the 3rd August 2019, so keep your eyes peeled for our vehicles and send us your best pictures!

Nidd Transport has been awarded Palletforce PLC’s ‘depot of the year’ for the second year running.

This is a fantastic achievement and it is an award that everyone at Nidd is hugely proud of winning once again.

A special mention must go to Jon Bowyer and his staff in the UK department, the warehouse team and the trunk and delivery drivers for delivering a high standard of customer service for our Palletforce partners. However, it is also important to recognise the whole Nidd Transport team for their contribution in gaining this award.

The award is judged on the administration of the business, as well as the customer care and delivery performance of the business and once again Nidd Transport have finished ‘Top of the League’. Congratulations!
